History is Written In Stone

I recently took a trip to the Jurassic Coast in the South of England. The area is famous for being the birthplace of modern paleontology and features large cliffs and beautiful long stony beaches littered with fossils from a hundred plus million years ago.

As the land that now forms the Great Britain moved east from North America and North from the equator, it was lifted out of the ocean by tectonic pressure, to expose geological history for all to see.

On a beach near a town called Lyme Regis, I was hoping, perhaps optimistically, to find some trace of dinosaur remains.

What I found instead, was just as interesting.
